Electricity

Taiwan's electric current is 110 V, 60 Hz which is the same as the U.S. and thus the wall sockets are made for standard American 2 pin flat plugs.

Air conditioners use 220/240 V, 60 Hz. The 3 pin socket is completely different and you should NOT use a 110 V device in the air conditioning port as it will a) blow out the fuse in your flat/apartment as well as possibly damage your device.

If you are coming from Australia or other countries using 220/240V, 50 Hz, your appliances may not work in Taiwan and should consult each label/plate for compatibility.

Appliances that using only 50 Hz will need a frequency converter to use them in Taiwan and can be purchased almost everywhere inexpensively. Smaller devices, however, will use the 200/240 V, 50/60 Hz. They can be plugged into the 220/240  air conditioner socket (3 pin) or connected to step-up voltage transformers that can also be found inexpensively at many hardware/electric stores which plug directly into the 110 V wall sockets (2 pin).
