Ocean Dive Center in Taichung (located near the Am-vet pool) is now offering PADI dive courses taught in English.

PADI Discover Scuba Course: Want to try scuba diving but don't have a license? The PADI Discover Scuba/ Discover Scuba Diving programs lets you experience the thrill of diving under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. Our PADI Discover Scuba Course takes place in a confined water setting in Kenting where participants first develop their skills and confidence as Discover Scuba Divers. Later the same day, divers then make one open water dive at one of the many excellent dive sites in Kenting.

Course Fee: NT$ 2500 (Includes full equipment rental)

Note: Does not include transportation fee and accommodation.
If you're interested in continuing your dive adventure with us, we will credit the cost of your discover scuba course towards the final cost of your PADI Open Water course.

PADI Open Water Course: This course takes place in the pool, in the class-room and in the open water. Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of dive theory, scuba equipment, orientation and dive safety. The PADI Open Water course prepares would-be divers for the world of underwater scuba. After completing in-class assignments, listening to lectures, and engaging in confined water exercises in the pool, candidates will complete four open water dives at tropical locations in Kenting. Once certified, PADI Open Water Divers will be afforded the personal confidence and license that allows them to dive anywhere in the world.

Course fees: NT 15,000 (20% discount with 4 or more students enrolled)

Note: Does not include transportation fee or accommodation.

Other PADI courses: Information available upon request

Ocean Dive Center is also offering regularly scheduled dive trips to Kenting for experienced and beginner divers.

Fun Dives:

For those who are already licensed PADI Open Water Divers.

NT 1000 per dive (minimum of two dives). Includes all equipment rental.

NT 300-600 / nights accommodation in Kenting.

NT 1000 transportation to and from Kenting and transport while in Kenting.

Note: All dives will be accompanied by a PADI professional diver.

Dive groups will leave from our shop at 12:30am Friday night / Saturday morning. The journey to Kenting is typically a four and a half hour drive. Our roomy van can accommodate 6 divers and we operate on a 'first come first serve' basis. If you're interested in organizing your own dive trip or just joining our crew, a non-refundable deposit of NT 500 paid in advance books your seat in the van. Your deposit also ensures that your accommodation in Kenting is pre-arranged. Upon arriving, we will check into our hotel and sleep for a few well deserved hours. Later that morning, we will make two morning dives and have the rest of day to relax and enjoy sunny Kenting.

Our dive trips can also accommodate a wide variety of 'apres-dive' activities. Whether it is a snorkeling trip to the beach, go-carts, paintball, horse back riding or just lounging around near the hotel, we customize every dive trip for our participants.

On Sunday mornings, depending on the group, we make two more early morning dives then shower and change back at the hotel. All this with enough time for a leisurely lunch before we all hit the road back to Taichung. Arrival times in Taichung may very depending on the needs of the group.

Diving in Kenting

One of the great things about living in Taiwan is the easy access to the ocean. Foreigners who have been lucky enough to have lived here for a few years have seen the popularity of water sports in Taiwan grow by leaps and bounds. Surfing, wind-surfing, kite-boarding and even sailing are starting to take hold of the Taiwanese imagination.

This is also true of scuba diving which is exploding in popularity, especially in the Southern beach community of Kenting. The reason for this is simple. The diving is excellent.

The abundance of fish life, the quality of both soft and hard corals, good visibility (especially in the winter) and the extremely warm water temperatures help make scuba diving in Kenting a real treat. Whether you are an advanced or beginner diver, you will find that easy access to shore dives with lots to see at shallow depths allows everyone to enjoy their experience.

Diving in Kenting has something for everyone. So consider spending a weekend with us.

Theres nothing like scuba diving in your own backyard.
